The Ubiquiti UniFi Switch 24 (USW-24) is a professional Layer 2 managed switch designed to serve as a reliable access or aggregation layer in modern business networks. It features 24 Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports, providing high-speed wired connectivity for workstations, servers, network storage, printers, and other IP devices. For uplink or backbone connections, the switch includes two 1G SFP ports, allowing flexible integration with fiber infrastructure or core switching equipment. Built in a standard 1U rack-mount form factor, the USW-24 is engineered for deployment in server rooms, wiring closets, and data cabinets. With compact dimensions of 442 × 200 × 44 mm, it fits easily into standard racks and enclosures with supported depths from 400 to 1200 mm, making it suitable for both centralized and distributed installations. The robust SGCC steel enclosure ensures mechanical durability and long-term reliability in professional environments.

A key advantage of the UniFi Switch 24 is its fanless cooling design, which enables completely silent operation. This makes the switch an excellent choice for noise-sensitive locations such as offices, classrooms, meeting rooms, and retail spaces, where active cooling would be undesirable. Performance is optimized for enterprise workloads. The switch delivers a switching capacity of 52 Gbps, with 26 Gbps of total non-blocking throughput and a forwarding rate of 39 million packets per second, ensuring smooth handling of simultaneous data streams across all ports. Support for up to 1,000 VLANs and a MAC address table of 8,000 entries allows efficient traffic segmentation and stable operation in networks with multiple user groups, departments, or services.

Advanced Layer 2 Features

The UniFi Switch 24 offers an extensive set of advanced Layer 2 features that provide precise control over traffic flow, security, and network stability. LACP port aggregation enables administrators to combine multiple physical links into a single logical connection, increasing available bandwidth and improving link resilience. STP and RSTP protocols help prevent switching loops and ensure fast network recovery in complex topologies. For networks that distribute video or data streams to multiple devices, the switch supports advanced IGMP functions, including IGMP Snooping, Querier, Fast Leave, and Router Port. These features ensure that multicast traffic is forwarded only to ports with interested receivers, reducing unnecessary load and improving efficiency in IPTV systems, video surveillance deployments, and professional IP-based media networks.

Security is a key focus of the USW-24. The switch supports 802.1X port-based authentication, MAC-based access control lists, MAC address blocking, and MAC-based port restrictions, helping administrators ensure that only authorized devices can access the network. Additional protection is provided through DHCP Snooping and Guarding, IP-based ACLs, and network isolation, mitigating common Layer 2 attack vectors. Traffic optimization and quality of service are handled through features such as Voice VLAN, LLDP-MED, egress rate limiting, flow control, storm control, and broadcast and multicast traffic limiting. The USW-24 is managed through the UniFi Network application, requiring UniFi Network version 7.2.94 or later.
